Comparison · Eduka™ or Scoliom

An alternative to Eduka for an independent private school

However complete a management system may be, it does nothing on its own: someone has to configure it, keep it up to date, train the users and answer the front office on a Tuesday morning. Eduka™ assumes that person already works for you. A great many private schools, in every country, have no such post — and no intention of creating one. Scoliom approaches the problem from the other end: we publish the Scoliom Scolarité platform, we host it and we run it for you, under a single contract.

Two models, two ways of organising

Buying software, or entrusting someone with running it

The real question is not “which solution is the most complete”, but “who will keep it running in February, when the front office is swamped”. Depending on the answer, the right choice changes entirely.

Scoliom: the platform, and the team that keeps it running

You are not taking on yet another tool to administer: we publish the platform, we host it in the European Union, we commission it with you, we train your teams and we then answer their requests. One monthly fee, one point of contact, and no technical post to recruit.

School administration included in the contract

The administration side covers the whole student life cycle — record, enrolment, re-enrolment, billing, documents, marks — and it is included in the plan: no licence to buy, no separate subscription line. It is designed for a front office of two or three people, not for an IT department.

Teaching side: with us, or with the publishers you already use

Grades and report cards are native, from the Scoliom Logiciel plan onwards: teachers enter the marks, averages and ranks are worked out, and the PDF report card is published in the family space. Is your team attached to Pronote™ and EDT™ (Index Éducation), or to Edumoov™ in primary? We install them, update them and sort out any problems, and your PDF report cards land in the same family space: a single contract for administration and for teaching alike.

The scope of school administration

What the front office does every day, and nothing more

Where an ERP aims for exhaustiveness, we aim to cut down the number of clicks. Every screen below matches a real front-office task, usable in the very first week, with no three-hundred-page manual.

Student database & import of your files

The lists you already have, with nothing retyped.

We import your spreadsheets or the export from the software you use today: columns are recognised automatically, in Latin script as in Arabic script, and the import runs one way only, into Scoliom. A complete student record, a history kept from year to year, siblings linked to one another, plus search and export.

Enrolment & re-enrolment

From the single file to the annual campaign.

A file taken at the desk or filed online by the family; then, every spring, the re-enrolment campaign: pre-filled files, the next year group proposed, reminders for those running late — the detail is on the Enrolment & re-enrolment module.

Files & supporting documents

A list of documents, ticked off one by one.

You define the documents expected for each type of file; each one is marked received, then in order, and the file is only approved once nothing is missing. A family document approved once counts for every child enrolled.

Family portal

The file filled in from the parent's phone.

The guardian receives a secure link or a code, photographs their documents, follows the progress of the file and receives a confirmation at every step. That means far fewer trips to the desk, and a front office spending less time on the telephone.

Payments desk & arrears

Instalment plans, numbered receipts, arrears in plain sight.

Fees set for each year group, an instalment plan generated as soon as the file is approved, the sibling reduction applied automatically, numbered receipts, and outstanding balances followed student by student and class by class. See the school billing module.

Bilingual documents

Certificates and attestations, in French or in Arabic.

School certificates, attestations and leaving documents produced as PDFs on your school's letterhead, one at a time or for a whole class, each carrying a number in the school's register and a QR code for checking.

Family communication

Batch emails and WhatsApp™ messages, prepared for you.

You target a year group, a class or only the incomplete files, then read the message over before sending: invitations, reminders about missing documents, start-of-term information. Nothing goes out on its own, and messages leave through your school's own channels.

Staff

Teaching and administrative staff in the same place.

Staff records with role, contact details and documents, subjects and classes assigned to each teacher, employment attestations generated — and access by role, so that everyone sees only what concerns them.

School transport

Who gets on which bus, at which stop.

Vehicles and their number of seats, routes and their stops in order, the driver attached to the transport, and each pupil assigned to a stop against the vehicle capacity. The family reads its child’s stop in its own space, without calling the school office. See the transport module

Subscribed services

Transport, the canteen, and whatever you configure.

Each family subscribes to the school’s services, with their rate and their billing logic. The amount joins their instalment plan along with the rest of the fees, with nothing kept separately. The canteen here is a subscribed and billed service: no menus, no meals, no stock.

Backup & restore

Your data, recoverable by you.

The school triggers a backup of its own data from the platform — before a delicate operation, at the end of a term — and can restore from the one it chooses. A school’s backup holds only its own data.

Eduka™ or Scoliom: what each one assumes about your school

A factual reading, without caricature. Neither is better in absolute terms: it all depends on your student numbers, the resources you have in-house and the time you are willing to devote to it. For your meetings with suppliers, our guide to choosing school management software sets out the questions to ask each of them, Scoliom included.

In short

What you are missing is less a piece of software than a team to keep it running

Scoliom covers the daily administrative work, included in your contract, with grades and report cards included, and takes charge of Pronote, EDT or Edumoov if your school is attached to them. One point of contact for administration and for teaching alike, a monthly fee that stays fixed for the whole school year, and a school that runs without technical meetings. Eduka™ keeps all its value for a network that is already equipped; for an independent school, our model asks far less of you.

What happens next

Do the sums for your own school

The first step: a simple exchange, remote and with no commitment, with a reply within 48 working hours. We look at the tools you use today, the real workload of your front office and what a change would actually involve, then we hand you a written review, risks ranked by priority, a 30/90/180-day action plan and a first budget estimate. No access to your data and no password is asked for at this stage, and the document belongs to you, whether you go on to work with us or not.
